The Foot Pod has a typical accuracy of 98%. Calibrating the Foot Pod with the Forerunner can potentially provide greater accuracy.
There are two methods available for calibration. For best results, calibrate the foot pod using the longest distance possible at your typical pace. For the best possible calibration, ensure calibrating over 400 m, ideally 800 m, on a regulation track. Measured tracks are typically more accurate than treadmills.
To automatically calibrate the foot pod:
To manually calibrate the foot pod:
Completing calibration of the Foot Pod with your Forerunner 50 can potentially increase the accuracy of the Foot Pod up to 99%.
1Utilize the following information when adjusting the distance: 400 m = 0.25 mi or 0.4 km // 800 m = 0.50 mi or 0.8 km
2The calibration factor for the Forerunner 50 is determined by dividing the True Distance by the Recorded distance of the watch. e.g. You run 500 meters but the watch shows 400 meters. The math would be 500/400=1.250 to be entered. You run 500 meters but the watch shows 600. The math would be 500/600=0.833 to be entered.
