Improving the Accuracy of the Rep Counting Feature on a Garmin Outdoor Watch

Compatible Outdoor watches offer a Rep Counting feature that will count exercise reps and automatically identify the exercise in Garmin Connect. These watches use motion to identify the type of exercise being done and count the number of reps completed.

Tips for Identifying Exercises and Counting Reps Accurately

  • Maintain good form and steady cadence throughout the exercise.

  • Do not interrupt a set to view the number of reps or heart rate.

  • Complete sets with a minimum of 8-10 reps.

  • Avoid doing reps too quickly or too slowly.

  • Ensure the watch is worn snuggly and does not slide up or down while exercising.

  • Do not wear the watch with the display on the inside of the wrist.

  • Avoid using weights that are either too light or too heavy for your current fitness level. Using weights that are too light or too heavy could cause inconsistencies in form or cadence.

These suggestions can help to provide the most accurate rep counting information coming from the watch. In the event that reps are added or missed, you can edit the number of reps counted on the watch or in Garmin Connect.
