Frequently Asked Questions About Power Glass and Power Sapphire Solar Lenses
Garmin® solar watches feature technology that allows them to charge from sunlight to extend battery life. The following information will help you better understand how the technology works to get the most out of your solar charging watch.
Can I Use a Screen Protector With a Garmin Solar Watch?
Garmin does not recommend the use of any kind of screen protector, as it will reduce the solar intensity received by the Power Glass™ or Power Sapphire™ lens.
If damage occurs to the screen while using a third-party screen protector, the watch will not be covered under Garmin's warranty.
I Want to Get the Most Out of Solar Charging, What Should I Do?
To get the most out of the sun's power, you will want the lens to be directed towards the sun. To learn more, see - Getting the Most Out of Solar Charging With a Solar Capable Watch.
Does Solar Charging Take Place While the Watch is Off?
Solar charging can take place while the watch is off.
There Is a Battery, Plug, or Infinity Icon on My Watch Face, What Does This Mean?
The battery or plug icon indicates your watch is in a state where it currently is unable to accept an additional solar charge. This includes a full battery, attached to another power source, or the temperature is either too hot or too cold. Once outside of these conditions, the watch will then be able to receive solar charge from the lens.
If your watch is showing an infinity symbol it means the battery should last indefinitely with the current rate of solar charging and battery usage.
