Syncing Amazon Music Content to a vívoactive Series Watch

This article will provide instructions to sync your Amazon Music content with your Connect IQ™ app on one of the following Garmin watches:

  • Legacy Hero Series - Captain Marvel | First Avenger

  • Legacy Saga Series - Darth Vader™ | Rey™

  • vívoactive® 4 | vívoactive® 4S

  • vívoactive® 5

  • vívoactive® 6

What Are the Requirements to Use the Amazon Music Connect IQ App?

  • The watch must be paired to your smartphone through the Garmin Connect™ app.

  • The watch must be set up to connect to a Wi-Fi network. For help see: Setting Up Wi-Fi on a Fitness Device.

  • An Amazon Prime or Amazon Music Unlimited account is required. For help see What is the Difference Between Prime Music and Amazon Music Unlimited?

  • You must be the Amazon Prime primary account holder. A family member sharing the benefit of Amazon Prime Music will not work. 

  • If you have never used the GPS on your watch, or if the battery has been completely discharged recently, you may be prompted to enable GPS after accessing the Amazon Music app. GPS can be enabled by choosing an outdoor activity. For instructions see: Going for a Run.

  • The app will work in the following countries:

I Meet the Requirements. What's Next?

The three steps listed below need to be completed when first setting up the Amazon Music app with your watch. Once complete, you will only need to follow the third step when you want to load additional content to your watch. Select each section to expand and view instructions on completing each step:


Step 1: Download and Install the Amazon Music Connect IQ App

The Amazon Music Connect IQ app can be downloaded from the Connect IQ™ store app on a mobile device, or through the Connect IQ Store website on a computer. Choose your preferred platform below to reveal instructions.


Connect IQ Store App Instructions

  1. Open the Connect IQ Store app on your mobile device.

  2. Ensure your watch is selected from the My Device tab.

  3. Select the Search icon on the bottom bar to search for the Amazon Music app.

  4. Select Install.

  5. Acknowledge any app permission requests.

  6. The Amazon Music app will begin installing and show as Queued. Sync your watch with Garmin Connect to install the app on your watch.

Once the sync is complete, the Amazon Music app will be installed on your device. You are ready to move to Step 2.


Connect IQ Store Website Instructions

  1. Select the following link to download the app: Amazon Music Connect IQ app.

  2. Select the Blue Download button button.

  3. If prompted, sign in to your Garmin account.

  4. Select your device to download the app.

  5. Acknowledge any app permission requests.

  6. The message should indicate that the app will be installed during the next sync. If this does not occur automatically, below are options to sync your device:

    • To sync via Bluetooth: Be in range of your paired smartphone, then press and hold the top right button to access the Controls Menu. Select blue arrows to sync.

    • To sync via Wi-Fi: Be in range of your Wi-Fi network, then press and hold the top right button to access the Controls Menu. Select blue arrows to sync.

    • To sync using Garmin Express: Connect the device to a computer using your charging cable. Open Garmin Express. A sync will automatically occur once the device is detected. 

Once the sync is complete, the Amazon Music app will be installed on your device. You are ready to move to Step 2.



Step 2: Set Up the Amazon Music Connect IQ App

Once the app is installed, you will be prompted on the watch to continue the setup.

  1. Swipe the screen on the watch to the Music widget.

    • If this widget is not showing on your watch, refer to your owner's manual

  2. Press and hold the bottom right button. 

    • Tap on the music widget for the vívoactive 6.

  3. Select Music Providers.

  4. Select Amazon Music.

  5. The screen should prompt you to visit https://amazon.com/code. The code provided on the watch will tie it to your Amazon account. Use a mobile device or personal computer to complete this step. Once completed allow up to a few minutes for the watch to proceed to the main menu.

You are ready to move to Step 3.


Step 3: Selecting and Syncing Content to Your Device

NOTE: Your watch must be able to connect to your Wi-Fi network to download content from Amazon Music. For help see: Setting Up Wi-Fi on a Fitness Device.

  1. Swipe the screen on the watch to the Music widget.

  2. Press and hold the bottom right button. 

    • Tap on the music widget for the vívoactive 6.

  3. Select Music Providers.

  4. Select Amazon Music.

  5. Select Browse.

  6. Choose a category then choose the content you want to sync to your watch.

    • At this point, the watch will attempt to connect to your Wi-Fi network. We recommend plugging the watch into a charger near the Wi-Fi router for the best results. 

After you have added content to your watch, any changes you make to your playlist(s) will sync over automatically when your watch is charging and in the range of a saved Wi-Fi network. You can also manually initiate a sync to update playlists and report all songs played to Amazon Music by following these steps:

  1. Swipe the screen on the watch to the Music widget.

  2. Press and hold the bottom right button.

    • Tap on the music widget for the vívoactive 6.

  3. Select Music Providers.

  4. Select Amazon Music.

  5. Select Sync.

    • At this point, the watch will attempt to connect to your Wi-Fi network. We recommend plugging the watch into a charger near the Wi-Fi router for the best results.
