Master Reset VIRB Ultra 30

It may be necessary to master reset your VIRB Ultra 30 if it is failing to perform as expected. Master resets clear user settings by restoring the device to factory defaults.

There is an additional troubleshooting step you can perform before a master reset. Issues can be caused by corrupt GPS user data, videos, or photos. Removing this data may resolve issues. You may want to back up this data before removing it from the device. See Erasing Your Memory Card for instructions to remove this data.

If your device boots properly:

  1. Tap LEFT/POWER or RIGHT/Wi-Fi to access the menu
  2. Select Settings (Gear icon located in the top-right)
  3. Select System (Bottom option)
  4. Select Reset
  5. Select Settings to clear most settings (Not Profiles)
  6. Select Factory Reset to clear all settings (Profiles Cleared)

To perform a factory/master reset on your VIRB Ultra 30 with buttons:

  1. Ensure the device is off
  2. Press and hold SHUTTER/ENTER and RIGHT/Wi-Fi
  3. Wait to see the LED turn Yellow then Red with a single beep
  4. Release RIGHT/Wi-Fi
  5. Wait to see the LED turn Red then Green with a double beep
  6. Release SHUTTER/ENTER
  7. Wait to see a prompt to select your language

The device should now be reset to default factory settings. All user data should be removed and the device should function as expected.
