Using BaseStation Mode on a Compatible Astro Dog Tracking Handheld

Coordinating efforts requires the right tools. The BaseStation feature provides the ability to connect an Astro® dog tracking handheld1 to a computer to view contacts and dogs on a larger display.

Before using BaseStation Mode having the following:

To use BaseStation with a compatible Astro handheld:

  1. Turn on the Astro and enable BaseStation mode:
    1. Navigate to the Main Menu
    2. Select Setup
    3. Select System
    4. Select BaseCamp™ BaseStation
    5. Select Prompted
  2. Connect the Astro handheld to the computer
  3. On the device, select Yes to enable BaseCamp™ BaseStation mode
  4. In the BaseCamp™ program, wait for device to appear below the Devices heading
  5. Under the device name, select the BaseStation folder
  6. Select contacts to view them on the map

Paired dogs that are being tracked and available contacts are now viewable within BaseCamp™. You must be within communication range of collars or contacts in the field in order for the Astro, that's using BaseStation mode, to update the  information. 

1 The Astro 220 handheld is not compatible with BaseStation mode

2 Tablets that meet the system requirements for BaseCamp™ and have a USB port can be used to run BaseStation mode.
