The Garmin Explore app has many helpful features, and is a required component for syncing important account related settings for inReach® satellite communication services.

Garmin Explore App Features

Some of the most popular and commonly used features in the app are described below.

Syncing Your Data

User data like tracks, activities, and waypoints can be synced between the handheld and the Garmin Explore app. Syncing the Garmin Explore app with your account brings your data to the Garmin Explore website. With an inReach subscription, the app also syncs account changes made on the website, such as Check-ins ( formerly known as Presets), Contacts, etc. to the handheld.

Downloading Maps

Before using maps in the Garmin Explore app, they must first be downloaded over a Wi-Fi or mobile data connection. Once downloaded, maps in the Garmin Explore app can be used with the smartphone offline.

Managing User Data With Library and Collections

Data recorded on an Alpha 200i can be synced, viewed, and organized in the Garmin Explore app. Routes/courses and waypoints can be created in the Garmin Explore app and synced to the Alpha 200i. GPX files can also be imported and exported with the Garmin Explore app.
