PACCAR Error Message "We are unable to find device information for the following vehicle(s)" During a Map Update

If you get the error message "We are unable to find device information for the following vehicle(s)" while trying to perform a PACCAR map update, you will need to verify the files that have been written from the PACCAR system to the USB flash drive are valid. 


To View the Files that have Been Written from the PACCAR System:

Windows:

  1. Connect the USB flash drive to a computer
  2. Press the Windows key + E
  3. click This PC (Windows 10 only) 
  4. Double click the drive representing the USB flash drive
  5. Open the Garmin folder

From this screen you can view the files written by the PACCAR system

Mac:

  1. Connect the USB flash drive to a computer
  2. Double click the drive representing the USB flash drive
  3. Open the Garmin folder

From this screen you can view the files written by the PACCAR system

When verifying the files on the USB flash drive and you see an invalid .XML (see example below), if the VIN starts with the letter "D", or the VIN is shorter than a standard 17 character VIN contact your PACCAR dealer for service.

  • Example of an invalid VIN .XML file: D139993_1008000114.xml
