Unable to Engage the Reactor Autopilot from the Garmin Chartplotter

The Reactor™ autopilot system is engaged using the GHC™ helm controller. The Reactor autopilot also engages on compatible Garmin chartplotters through an NMEA 2000 system generated pop-up message.

Garmin chartplotters that currently support the engage pop-up message include:

  • GPSMAP® 5x7 chartplotters | GPSMAP® 7x1 chartplotters

  • GPSMAP® 7x2 chartplotters | GPSMAP® 9x2 chartplotters

  • GPSMAP® 8x0 chartplotters | GPSMAP® 10x0 chartplotters

  • GPSMAP® 12x2 chartplotters | GPSMAP® 12x2 chartplotters

  • GPSMAP® 7x3 chartplotters | GPSMAP® 9x3 chartplotters | GPSMAP® 12x3 chartplotters | GPSMAP® 16x3 chartplotters

  • GPSMAP® 74xx chartplotters | GPSMAP® 76xx chartplotters

  • GPSMAP® 80xx chartplotters | GPSMAP® 82xx chartplotters

  • GPSMAP® 84xx chartplotters | GPSMAP® 86xx chartplotters

  • GPSMAP® 90xx chartplotters | GPSMAP® 92xx chartplotters

If the engage option does not appear on the compatible chartplotter, see Engage Garmin Autopilot Prompt Not Populating on Chartplotter.

If a chartplotter does not support the pop-up feature, engaging the autopilot is through the GHC helm display. However, all other Reactor autopilot system features will be functional.

To engage the Reactor using the GHC helm display:

  1. On the chartplotter, select a destination, point the arrow to a location, or choose a waypoint, route

  2. Select Navigate To

  3. Select Route To, Go To, or AutoGuide To

  4. After the magenta line appears on the chartplotter, use the GHC and select Menu

  5. Select GPS Steering

  6. Select Follow Route

NOTE: GPS Steering will not be an available option until the chartplotter is actively navigating to a destination.
