GPSMAP 78 Series Wiring Power Harness
Connecting the Wiring Harness to Power
When connecting the power cable, do not remove the in-line fuse holder. To prevent the possibility of injury or product damage caused by fire or overheating, the appropriate fuse must be in place as indicated in the product specifications. In addition, connecting the power cable without the appropriate fuse in place voids the product warranty.
1. Route the wiring harness to the power source and to the device.
2. Connect the red wire to the positive (+) battery terminal, connect the black wire to the negative (-) battery terminal.
3. The brown and white wires are for NMEA 0183 if they are not needed they can be snipped off and apply shrink wrap or other material to protect from water intrusion.
4. Plug cable into the back of the device, the port is covered by the rubber seals on the backside of the unit.

If you are wiring to a NMEA 0183 device to this unit the only negative or ground wire on the unit is the black wire if the other device requires a negative it will need to be connected to the same ground as this power cable goes to. Both the Brown and the White wires are positives.
