How to Send Workouts to a Garmin Device

Advanced workouts can be created that include goals for each workout step, varied distances, times, and calories. Create workouts using your Garmin Connect™ account, or select a Garmin Coach plan that has built-in workouts, and transfer them to a device. Workouts can be sent from your Garmin Connect account. Select a platform option below to reveal instructions.

NOTE: Garmin watches are limited to 25 non-scheduled workouts that can be downloaded onto the device, including preloaded workouts. Garmin Edge® cycling computers have a limit of 200 non-scheduled workouts. 


Garmin Connect App

  1. Open the Garmin Connect app.

  2. Select More (bottom right).

  3. Select Training & Planning.

  4. Select Workouts.

  5. Select the workout you would like to send.

  6. Select the send icon Send to Device icon from the top right of the app.

  7. Select the device to send the workout to.

The Garmin Connect app will sync the workout to your compatible device.


Garmin Connect Web

NOTE: You must have the Garmin Express™ program installed on a computer to complete the steps below. Please see How Do I Install Garmin Express?

  1. From a web browser, sign into your Garmin Connect account.

  2. Select Training & Planning from the navigation bar on the left. 

  3. Select Workouts.

  4. Select two diagonal arrows.

  5. Select a device from the drop-down menu.

  6. Select Send to Device.

Garmin Express program will then open and sync the workout to the device.
