Automotive Device Freezing on "Enabling Bluetooth"
If your automotive device is getting stuck on the "Enabling Bluetooth" message, this usually means that there is a problematic Bluetooth file within the device. To fix this issue, the file will need to be deleted from the device and replaced with a properly functioning file. To delete the problematic file from the GPS, follow the directions below:
Windows
To View the Device's Hidden System Files:
- Connect your GPS device to a PC via USB cable
- Press the Windows key
- Type Folder Options
- Click Folder Options or File Explorer Options
- Click the View tab
- Select Show hidden files and folders in the Advanced settings section
- Uncheck Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)
- Click Yes
- Click the OK button to apply the changes and close the window
To reverse this, follow the steps above and restore the settings in steps 6 and 7 to their original values.
To Delete the Bluetooth Files:
- Press the Windows key + E on the keyboard to open File Explorer
- Open the Garmin drive once it appears
- Open the Garmin folder
- Open the RemoteSW folder
- Delete all of the files within this folder
Mac
To View the Device's Hidden System Files and Delete the Bluetooth Files:
- Connect your GPS device to a Mac via USB cable
- Open the Garmin drive
- Click Go on the menu bar at the top of the screen
- Click Go to Folder
- Type .System
- Click Go
- The hidden files and folders on the device will now be visible
- Open the RemoteSW folder
- Delete all of the contents within this folder
- Empty the Trash bin
After you have deleted the problematic file from the device, a new properly functioning file will need to be downloaded from our Garmin Express program.
Once all the above steps are performed, your device should function properly.
