When Does a Chest Strap Provide Heart Rate Data to My Watch?
Garmin watches will display and record heart rate data from a connected accessory heart rate chest strap under either of these conditions:
When you are actively viewing the heart rate widget/glance on the watch.
When the watch is recording an activity.
Garmin watches will not provide heart rate data from the connected heart rate strap outside of those conditions. If you are needing to record heart rate data outside of an activity, or when not viewing the heart rate widget/glance, you will need to use the built-in optical heart sensor on the watch.
NOTE: To check if your heart rate strap is connected, check the Sensors & Accessories menu on your watch, or refer to your owner's manual and search "Pairing Your Wireless Sensors".
