Transfer User Data (Waypoints, Routes, and Tracks) from HomePort to the Boating Mode of a GPSMAP 620 or 640
NOTE: HomePort has been discontinued. For additional information regarding the discontinuation, see HomePort Application Discontinued
The GPSMAP 620 and 640 have two operating modes, automotive and boating. When the device is connected to a computer using a USB cable, it will put the device into Mass Storage Mode which will allow access to the Automotive side of the device and an SD card that is inserted into the device. If the user data is sent directly to the device, it will place all of the user data into the Automotive side of the device. All of the waypoints will be stored as Favorites on the automotive side and the boating side will not have access to the waypoints. The data will need to be sent to the SD card first, and then copied from the SD card to the boating mode.
To send the user data to a GPSMAP 620 or 640 for use in the boating mode, please follow these instructions:
Insert a SD card into the device
Connect the device to the computer using the appropriate USB cable
Power on the device
It should boot to a screen with a picture of the device connected to a computer
Open the HomePort program
Left click on the My Collection folder on the left side of the screen
Any user data created at this point will be saved in the My Collection folder which is on the computer
The user data can be created in any other folder located in the Library section on the left side of the screen and will be saved on the computer
Right click on the folder that contains all of the user data that is needed and choose Send To
Select GPSMAP 620 or GPSMAP 640
The option for GPSMAP 640 may appear twice, choose the one that provides the option of Untitled after it, not All Data (this is for the Automotive side)
Select Untitled
At this point, the information will be sent to the SD card that was inserted into the device
Left click on the folder called Untitled that appears on the left side of the screen
Ensure all of the user data has been transferred to that folder
If everything is there, unplug the device from the computer
The device will now restart, and if using a GPSMAP 640, it may boot into the automotive mode
Ensure the device is in the boating mode

Select Untitled
The information will now be stored on the device and can be used in the boating mode.
