VIRB Ultra 30 Waking Up from Standby Mode on Its Own
The VIRB Ultra 30's Remote Wake Up feature allows it to remain in a low-power "standby" mode until it is ready for use.
If a VIRB Ultra 30 is paired wirelessly with your smartphone and is waking up from standby mode without any input from you, it is likely that the phone is prompting the camera to wake up.
When a VIRB Ultra 30 connects or reconnects to a remote device - such as your phone - it will automatically wake up from standby mode. On most phones, when the phone loses wireless signal, it will automatically attempt to relocate and reconnect to the signal. If the phone is constantly losing connection to the VIRB, it will constantly be reconnecting and waking the VIRB from standby.
When the main camera is awakened in this fashion, any other VIRB cameras which are paired to the main camera will also be awakened from standby mode.
