My Watch Display Is Not Turning on When I Turn My Wrist
Many Garmin® watches have a feature called Gesture which will illuminate the watch display when you rotate your arm away from your body and up toward your face in one swift motion. The gesture feature may not function due to any of the following factors:
The gesture feature is disabled. To check your display settings refer to your owner's manual and search “Gesture” or "Focus Mode."
Do not disturb is enabled on your Garmin® watch. To check this setting refer to your owner's manual and search “Do Not Disturb.”
The screen is disabled. This is an option in the controls menu (usually found by pressing and holding the power button) as an

It is within the scheduled Sleep Mode times. Some watches also have separate settings for During Sleep times, so confirm if gesture can be enabled there as well. To check if your watch has Sleep Mode settings, how to adjust During Sleep backlight settings, or how to adjust your scheduled sleep times, see your owner's manual and search for “Customizing Sleep Mode” or “Customizing the Sleep Focus Mode.”
NOTE: Not all watches support Gesture during Sleep mode.
Wrist heart rate is not being detected (for devices that have the wrist heart rate enabled).
With the wrist heart rate enabled, if heart rate is not detected the watch thinks it is off the wrist and will ignore the gesture detection. You can refer to The Heart Rate Sensor on My Garmin Watch Is Not Accurate for guidance on factors that may affect heart rate detection.
Battery saver is enabled. To check your battery manager settings refer to your owner's manual and search for “Battery Manager.”
