Instructions to Sync Amazon Music Content to a tactix 8 Watch

This article will provide instructions to use the Connect IQ™ app for Amazon Music on tactix® 8 - AMOLED or tactix® 8 - Solar watches.

Requirements

The following are requirements to use the Connect IQ™ app for Amazon Music on your watch:

  • Watch must be paired to your smartphone through the Garmin Connect™ app.

  • Watch must be set up to connect to a Wi-Fi® network. For help, see - Adding Wi-Fi Networks to Compatible Watches.

  • An Amazon Prime or Amazon Music Unlimited account is required. For help, see - What is the Difference Between Prime Music and Amazon Music Unlimited?

  • You must be the Amazon Prime primary account holder. A family member sharing the benefit of Amazon Prime Music will not work.

  • Secure Clock: This feature is used to synchronize the time on your watch. If you have never used the GPS on your watch, or if the battery has been completely discharged recently, you may be prompted to enable GPS after accessing the Amazon Music app. GPS can be enabled by choosing an outdoor activity.

  • The app works in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Germany, Austria, Spain, India, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan.


I Meet the Requirements. What Do I Do Next?

The three steps listed below need to be completed when first setting up the Amazon Music app with your watch. Once complete, you will only need to follow the third step when you want to load additional content to your watch. Select each section to expand and view instructions on completing each step:


Step 1: Download and Install the Connect IQ App for Amazon Music

  1. Select the following link to download the app: Connect IQ app for Amazon Music

  2. Select Blue Download Buttonbutton.

  3. If prompted, sign in to your Garmin® account.

  4. Select your watch to download the app.

  5. Acknowledge any app permission requests.

  6. A message should indicate that the app will be installed during the next sync. If this does not occur automatically, sync your watch manually:
    • To sync via Bluetooth: Be in range of your paired smartphone, and open the Garmin Connect app. Select blue sync arrows on the My Day page to sync.

    • To sync via Wi-Fi: Be in range of your previously set up Wi-Fi network, and hold the UP/MENU (middle left) button on the watch. Scroll down and select Watch Settings > Connectivity > Wi-Fi > Wi-Fi Sync and wait while the watch connects to Wi-Fi and syncs. 

    • To sync using the Garmin Express™ software: Connect the watch to a computer using the supplied power/data cable. Open the Garmin Express program. A sync will automatically occur once the watch is detected.

Once the sync is complete, the Amazon Music app will be installed onto your watch. You can also install Connect IQ apps to your watch by following the instructions in Installing Connect IQ Content Using the Connect IQ Store App. After the app installs, you are ready to move to Step 2.

Step 2: Set up the Connect IQ App for Amazon Music

Once the app is installed, you will be prompted on the watch to continue setup.

  1. Hold UP/MENU (middle left button) to access the menu.

  2. Select Watch Settings.

  3. Select Music.

  4. Select Music Providers.

  5. Select Amazon Music Icon Amazon Music.

  6. The screen should prompt you to visit amazon.com/us/code. The code provided on the watch will tie it to your Amazon account. Use a mobile device or personal computer to complete this step. Once completed, allow up to a few minutes for the watch to proceed to the main menu.

You are ready to move to Step 3.

Step 3: Selecting and Syncing Content to the Watch

NOTE: Your watch must connect to your Wi-Fi network to download content from Amazon Music.
  1. Hold UP/MENU (middle-left button) to access the menu.

  2. Select Watch Settings.

  3. Select Music.

  4. Select Music Providers.
  5. SelectAmazon Music IconAmazon Music.

  6. Select Browse.

  7. Choose a category then choose the content you want to sync to your watch.

    • Content is available to download based on the permissions on your Amazon Music account. If you need assistance with music availability refer to Amazon Music's support.

After you have added content to your watch, any changes you make to your playlist(s) will sync over automatically when your watch is charging and in the range of a saved Wi-Fi network. You can also manually initiate a sync to update playlists and report all songs played to Amazon Music by following these steps:

  1. Hold DOWN (lower-left button) to access the Music widget.

  2. Select Sync.

    • At this point, the watch will attempt to connect to your Wi-Fi network. We recommend plugging the watch into a charger near the Wi-Fi router for the best results.
