Getting Started with Garmin® Marine Devices

Welcome to Garmin® Marine. This FAQ contains information to make first use of a Garmin Marine Product the best possible experience. Before making changes to a Garmin device, Garmin recommends registering and updating Garmin devices.

Registering Garmin devices creates a path to upgrading the built-in software and charts¹, as well as purchasing premium charts that offer an even better on the water experience.
Being up to date in software is an important part of insuring compatibility with the latest charts, accessories, ensuring that our latest manuals² provide instructions that apply to the device, and will make the process of supporting a product easier should contacting Garmin Product Support become necessary.

¹Some Marine products do not support premium or built-in charts, such as our STRIKER™ products. Our latest STRIKER models do feature GPS and a feature called Quickdraw (also available on chartplotters equipped with a transducer). Some chartplotters only have a worldwide basemap. Devices with a worldwide basemap will require the purchase of a premium chart or a premium chart subscription.

²With exception to manuals which are built-in to some units, manuals for Garmin Devices are to be found on our website.
