Sending a MapShare Link From a GPSMAP 66i/86i/86sci
Depending on which feature you have enabled on your account, a LiveTrack™ page link or a MapShare™ page link can be sent to friends and family directly from an inReach® device after tracking has been started so that they may follow your progress. If you are using the MapShare feature and have set a password for your MapShare page, the password is included automatically when you use the share feature from the website, the device, or the mobile app.
NOTE: Before attempting to send your tracking link, either the LiveTrack or MapShare feature should be enabled and configured in your inReach account. If you attempt to send your tracking link prior to enabling either of these features, the message "You cannot use MapShare until you give consent at explore.garmin.com to post your data online" will be sent to your inReach device and will count as one received message on your monthly invoice. Sending a MapShare Link From a GPSMAP® 66i, 86i, or 86sci Outdoor Handheld
Access the main menu by pressing MENU twice.
Select Tracking.
Select Send MapShare.
Select Share.
Select the To field, then select one or more of your contacts from the list or select Type Recipients.
Press QUIT from the contact list, or select Done after typing recipients.
Select the Message field to customize your message.
A default message of I'm starting my trip. Follow along here! will be pre-filled. You can edit or add to this message, if desired. A link to either your LiveTrack page or your MapShare page will be included with the message.
Select Send Message.
