Requesting a Copy of Your inReach Message History

There may be times when you want to view your previous inReach® message history, but it is not available to view. Reasons for this are having manually deleted messages from the account Inbox, the device has been removed from the account, the device's plan has been cancelled or the account has been deleted. However, you can request a copy of your inReach message history through your Garmin account with the steps below.

NOTE: Keep in mind that this request is not limited to your inReach data. It will also provide data from your Garmin orders, other Garmin applications, etc.

Requesting Message History

  1. Go to Garmin.com.

  2. Click Account Profile Icon in the top right.

  3. Select Sign In.

  4. Enter your credentials, then select Sign In.

  5. Click Account Profile Icon.

  6. Select Account.

  7. Select Manage Your Data at the bottom of the page.

  8. Select Export Your Data.

  9. Select Request Data Export.

It should advise that your request was successfully submitted, and you will receive an email with your data. Typically data files are prepared and sent within 48 hours, but please allow up to 30 days.


Retrieving Message History

  1. Open the email received from the request.

  2. Click View Now in the email and a file folder will be downloaded to your computer.

  3. Locate the download.

    NOTE: Typically found in the Downloads folder on Windows and Mac.

  4. Open the inReach folder.

  5. Open the message-history.csv file.

This will open an Excel spreadsheet with the message data (date and time, latitude/longitude, message text, recipient, etc.).
