My GPS Fitness Device Does Not Show Speed or Distance Outside

If an older GPS enabled fitness device is failing to show speed or distance outside, it is possible the device may not have locked onto a satellite signal yet. If you are outdoors with an unobstructed view of the sky your device should acquire a signal within a few minutes. In cases where you've given the unit several minutes to acquire and it will not, there is the potential for some stored satellite data to become corrupted on the device causing it to not lock onto a satellite signal.  In the event that this occurs, it may be necessary to perform a process called AutoLocate.

 Perform the AutoLocate Function:

Edge 205/305 and Forerunner 101, 201, 205, 301, 305, 310XT, and 910XT

  1. Ensure device is powered off.

  2. Press and hold DOWN.

  3. Press and release POWER.

  4. Wait 30 seconds.
