Windows 10 and Windows 11 S Mode and Garmin Applications

Some Windows 10 and Windows 11 desktop, laptop. and tablet computers come with Windows in "S Mode.” A computer with S Mode can only install applications from the Microsoft Store.

Because of this, Garmin applications, including Garmin Express™ software, BaseCamp™ software, and inReach Sync cannot be installed on a computer with Windows in S Mode.

Determining Whether Your Computer is Using S Mode:

  1. Right-Click the Start Menu (Windows 10 Start Symbol or Windows 11 Start Symbol).

  2. Select System.

  3. Your computer's version will be listed next to Edition, including whether or not it is using S mode:

If your computer is using S Mode, a different computer needs to be used for updating, registering, syncing, and any other function which requires a Garmin application.
