Cleaning Your Watch After Swimming
Many Garmin® watches are built for water activities like swimming, showering, and bathing. However, water often contains impurities or chemicals such as chlorine. These can build up on your watch over time, potentially leading to inaccurate data. To prevent this, follow the cleaning instructions below after your watch has been exposed to impure water
Cleaning Your Watch After Water Activities
The most crucial step after using your watch in water is to clean it before salt or pool water dries.
Rinse Immediately: Remove your watch and rinse its entire body under low-pressure, fresh, clean water. Pay close attention to the optical heart rate sensor, buttons, and any small openings.
Clean Contact Points: Use a soft-bristled toothbrush to gently clear any debris from the charging contact points on the device.
NOTE: Never insert any objects into the sensor ports on the sides or back of the watch. Do not use canned air to blow debris out of the sensor ports.
Dry Thoroughly: Shake off any excess water and allow the watch to air dry completely.
What if you can't clean it right away?
If immediate cleaning isn't possible, hold your watch so the holes on the right side face the ground and shake out any excess water. Clean the watch with impurity-free water as soon as you can.
