Low Battery Icon when Connected to a Computer
Some devices will always show a battery icon when plugged into the computer. However, if only this icon is displayed on your device, it indicates the current charge level is too low to communicate with the computer.
The device should show either an orange or grey icon of a GPS connected to a computer when connected via USB cable to your Windows PC or Mac if it has enough charge to communicate with the computer properly.
If the device shows a battery icon but does not show either an orange or grey icon of a GPS connected to a computer, the device will need to charge before attempting to update the maps or software.
Charging a device when connected to a computer is quite slow (8-12 hours for a full charge). If you are receiving this low battery alert, it is recommended to charge your device either with the included vehicle power cable or with an AC power adapter (not included) before attempting an update.
Additional information about using AC adapters to charge the device can be found in Using Third-Party AC Chargers, Cables, and Other Accessories with Garmin Automotive Devices.
Once your device has a sufficient charge, it should show either an orange or grey icon of a GPS connected to a computer when connected via USB cable to your Windows PC or Mac.
