ERG Training With a FLUX Series Trainer

ERG mode training, also known as power training, comprises a set number of blocks of specified power output, adjusting your resistance to match your cadence. The example workout below starts at a power of 150 watts, followed by 225 watts, back to 150 watts and so forth. For more information on creating and following an ERG workout in the Tacx Training Apps, see related .

The FLUX Smart Trainer Series can produce a range of power levels for a specific gear setting (illustrated by the blue shape in the graph below). You will need to shift gears if you are riding within the upper and lower limits of this range.

The above graph shows ERG training for the FLUX Series with a certain gear setting (39 tooth front chain ring and a 19 tooth rear cassette). It illustrates the amount of wattage or power level the FLUX Smart can produce in the specified gear setting with a certain cadence. The blue area represents the available resistance levels of the trainer. For example, at a cadence of 75 RPM, the FLUX Series can power up to 400 watts in the 39-19 gear settings. These trainers cannot produce power levels outside this range in the same gear settings. Shifting gears is necessary if you wish to ride in the upper or lower limits. Using another gear setting will change the starting point of the lowest and highest possible power level at 0 RPM. For this reason, you can adjust and control the optimal gear setting for your training.
