Using the Gaming Activity and the Garmin GameOn App

The Garmin GameOn™ application allows players of any level to "win more" by leveraging the biometrics from their compatible Garmin® watch. Amplify your chances of winning by learning what your optimal stress zone is during play, getting feedback on when it is a good time to chill and when to grind on, and seeing your physiological response to stress live in a head-up display (HUD). After opening the activity on your watch and pairing with your computer, compatible games can start the activity timer on your watch and mark key events of your gaming experience. Analysis of your physiological metrics will prompt tips and guidance for better game play.

Is the Gaming Activity Compatible with Console Games?

The Gaming activity integrates with the Garmin GameOn app for PC which is not available for console systems. You can still record console game sessions manually with your watch. When you open the Gaming activity, scroll past the pairing screen before selecting the type of gaming session you are doing. You will need to manually begin the activity timer, and manually stop and save the activity at the end of your game session. You will not see a HUD with physiological metrics while playing, and game events will not be recorded as part of the activity, but the activity will still record on the watch. You can still save the activity and sync it to your Garmin Connect™ account.

Can I Still Use the Garmin GameOn App With an Unsupported Game?

Yes. Similar to playing a console game, you can still record a session for an unsupported game on the watch. You will need to skip passed the pairing screen as it searches for a supported game and manually start and stop the activity timer. You will see a HUD with physiological metrics during game play as well as Match and Activity Summaries, but game events will not be recorded to the activity. The activity can still be saved and synced to your Garmin Connect account.

If you are regularly playing unsupported or console games, you can adjust the activity settings to turn off the broadcasting to the Garmin GameOn app in order to skip the pairing prompt all together. The next time you want to play through the Garmin GameOn app you will need to reenable that setting. See your owner's manual for instructions on how to adjust activity settings.
