Mass storage devices typically appear as a drive on your computer, allowing easy access to data on the device regardless of your operating system. Occasionally, the device may not appear as a drive.

If a device is not recognized by your computer within one minute of being connected, a boot block may be necessary.

To perform the boot block:

  1. Ensure device battery is fully charged
  2. Disconnect device from computer
  3. Power device off
  4. Press and hold appropriate button(s)

    • vivoactive: Hold ACTION button (top-right) while briefly pressing POWER button (top-left)
      • NOTE: Holding POWER button for longer than 10 seconds will perform a hard reset
  5. Plug device into computer
  6. Wait until device is recognized by computer (may take up to 30 seconds)
  7. If prompted, install USB device drivers:
    1. Choose, "No, not at this time"
    2. Click Next
    3. Choose Install USB drivers automatically (Recommended)
    4. Click Next and wait for USB driver installation to complete
    5. Click Finish
  8. Release appropriate button(s)
  9. Sync history and update device using Garmin Express
  10. Right-click on device drive
  11. Click Eject
  12. Disconnect device from computer
  13. Power on device
  14. Wait for update to complete

Your device should now function normally.
